Business Development & Account Manager

Summary

This individual is essential to developing new business opportunities and customer relationships. This position works closely with other departments to drive business opportunities and manage the sale of parts and services to new and existing customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business and customer relationships. Gather detailed information regarding their projects and parts/service needs.

  • Have a good understanding of commercial terms & conditions and ensure sales and services are executed per the agreed-to terms and conditions.

  • Prepare and give presentations to new and existing customers and at industry conferences. Work with customers at their corporate offices or project sites to identify opportunities, respond to questions, and resolve concerns.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of company products and services.

  • Develop proposals for products, parts and services and assist in the development cost analysis. Clarify and supplement bids/quotes and facilitate customer evaluations. Report status as required.

  • Lead internal meetings with engineering, inventory management, and field operation groups to competitively position parts and service proposals.

  • As assigned, Lead or Participate in customer contract negotiations.

  • Develop sales and marketing strategy & approach to achieve sales goals.

  • Maintain databases that track proposal development and customer award status.

  • Forecast future market requirements for development of sales targets and goals.

  • Monitor and internally report competitor’s activities in the market.

  • Solicit and document customer feedback. Document lessons learned. Initiate non-conformance reviews for parts & services and internally communicate reasons for unsuccessful proposals. 

  • Proactively contact assigned customers, facilitate reviews and evaluation of Company products & services. Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts.

  • Timely complete training assignments.

  • 50% required travel expectation to meet with existing and potential customers.

  • Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time by the company.

  • Education and/or Experience: Minimum education requirement is a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and at least six (6) years of relevant experience, or at least six (6) years relevant experience. Operations experience and/or prior management experience a plus.

  • English Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Communication skills: Ability to work effectively with executive, management, and employees with varying educational, professional, and cultural background using verbal & written communication. Strong organizational skills & ability to multi-task.

  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts, to include fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
