Receive Consecutively New Orders of UE Engine UEC33LSE for 7499DWT asphalt vessels

Tokyo, October 19, 2015 - Totally 4 new orders for 6 UEC33LSE-C2, low-speed marine diesel engine developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery & Engine Co, Ltd (MHI-MME), were placed with Akasaka Diesels Limited, a licensee of UE engine located in Tokyo, Japan:

2 orders were from Qingshan Shipyard Of China Changjian National Shipping and the other 2 were from Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd. In addition, 2 more engines for each ship yard (totally 4 engines) are under negotiation as option.

These engines are manufactured by Akasaka Diesels Limited and installed to 7499DWT asphalt vessels whose owner is Shum Yuen Group (Hong Kong) Limited; its first vessel is expected to be put in service in October 2016.

Based on MHI-MME's thorough market research, UEC33LSE engine holds significant advantages in fuel oil consumption and is optimized for a wide range of vessel types which are less than 30,000DWT class vessel such as bulk carrier, chemical tanker, cement vessels, domestic ferry and small size container vessels.

The first UEC33LSE was manufactured by Akasaka Diesels Limited and installed to 11,500DWT chemical tanker built by Kitanihon Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Since it was put in service in November 2014, it has been achieving good performance.

UEC33LSE as a strategic developed engine which also meets future TierⅢ regulation, has attracted attention, and we have been receiving many inquiries so far. MHI-MME will continuously work closely with its licensee to promote its sales for expanding market share.
