To Conduct Next Generation ERP System Evaluation Test

Tokyo, June 7, 2011 - MHI Engine System Asia Pte. Ltd. (MHIES-A) in Singapore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), and NCS Pte. Ltd. (NCS), have jointly been awarded the contract by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore to conduct a System Evaluation Test (SET) for a next generation electronic road pricing system (ERP). NCS is a leading information technology and communication engineering service provider in Singapore. The MHIES-A/NCS team was selected as one of four consortia by LTA and will conduct the SET for 18 months.
Singapore introduced the world's first ERP system, delivered by MHI, in 1998. Since then, the country has expanded use of the system to some 90 locations, and MHI has helped lay the foundation of the country's advanced ERP infrastructure, delivering approximate 2,500,000 on-board units of the ERP system through MHIES-A to date and providing a five-year maintenance service based on the contract from the LTA in late 2009.
The urban traffic congestion and associated environmental issues are common challenges faced by large cities everywhere, particularly in Asia's rapidly developing urban complexes. The ERP system, a solution to respond to these issues, has already been adopted by a number of large cities around the world such as London and Stockholm. Going forward, MHI will continue to actively engage in the development of advanced road pricing systems, which can be applied to the telematics and Smart-community field, and propose optimum solutions for individual cities.
