MHI Receives Order for Satellite Launch Services, First from SKY Perfect JSAT

Tokyo, May 14, 2014 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has received an order for satellite launch services, for the first time from SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, the largest operator of broadcasting and communication satellites in the Asia-Oceania region headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

The satellite is scheduled to be launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in fiscal 2016, using MHI's H-IIA launch vehicle.

The H-IIA rocket is Japan's core launch vehicle and one of the most reliable launch vehicles in the world, with 22 of 23 launches to date carried out successfully - making for an outstanding success rate near 96%.

By now winning its first order from SKY Perfect JSAT, MHI intends to undertake even more aggressive marketing of its satellite launch services both in Japan and abroad, and continue to fulfil its central role in maintaining and enhancing the Japanese space industry, ensuring our continued access to space.
