Industry & Infrastructure Domain to Launch New Structure on January 1, Completing Business Restructuring Program under 2015 Medium-Term Business Plan

Tokyo, December 1, 2017 - Since April, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has been reorganizing its domains with the aims of pursuing group synergies and radically reforming its commercial aircraft and commercial ship businesses, in a quest to strengthen its global competitiveness and engineering operations. The Industry & Infrastructure domain, in addition to taking steps to reinforce the machinery and equipment system operations already in place, has now taken charge of strengthening engineering operations and reforming the commercial ship business, and is carrying out reforms of the businesses under its oversight.
To carry out the business reforms in the Industry & Infrastructure domain further, on January 1, 2018 three new companies will be launched to oversee engineering operations and the commercial ship business, thereby completing the transformation of all operations in the domain to individual business corporations. The latest initiative will also bring to completion the structural reform program for the Industry & Infrastructure domain hoisted in the three-year 2015 Medium-Term Business Plan, focused on concentration into core competencies as a way of achieving sustained business growth. Going forward, under the new business structure the various businesses will pursue further growth in their respective areas. Efforts will focus especially on developing growth businesses by strengthening competitiveness through business consolidation and reorganization, and undertaking stable business operation through flexible use of technology, business and human resources.
