New Start for the MHI Marathon Team

Tokyo, September 1, 2020 – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) announced in March 2020 that to strengthen MHI Group’s sports programs, from the 2021 season the sports activities that up to now have been run by regional business companies and offices would be integrated under a single management structure within the Global Group Headquarters.
As the first specific step in this initiative, the MHPS Marathon Team managed by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) will be transferred to the Sports Promotion Center within the MHI Global Group Headquarters Corporate Communication Department, and from today (September 1) will make a new start as the “MHI Marathon Team.”
The marathon team will continue to be based in Nagasaki, and under its motto of “From Nagasaki to the World,” will work together as a team to win the Kyushu Industrial Teams Ekiden Relay Race and the All Japan Industrial Teams Ekiden Relay Race (New Year’s Ekiden), as well as represent Japan in marathon events. We sincerely appreciate the support everyone has shown for the MHPS Marathon Team, and ask that you continue to cheer for the new MHI Marathon Team.
