Some media reported on September 19 that computers at MHI facilities have been victim of a virus attack.
In mid-August the company became aware of the possibility that its computers may have been infected by viruses. Later, it came to light that there is risk the infiltrating viruses have dangerousness to potentially cause leaks of company information. The company reported the matter to police authorities, and an investigation is being undertaken in collaboration with outside specialists and measures are being taken to respond to the incident.
As of now, the company believes that any damage from the virus attack has stopped spreading.
The company is aware that system information (computer network addresses, etc.) may have previously leaked from some of its in-house computers; however, to date the company has not confirmed any breaches of data concerning company products or technologies.
MHI continuously takes steps to prevent the spread of such damage, for example with anti-virus software. Going forward the company will continue its investigation into the latest incident and take further steps to prevent a reoccurrence.
