MHI Signs Transfer Agreement for Koyagi Plant at Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works with Oshima Shipbuilding

Tokyo, March 30, 2021– Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) had announced to begin formal discussions with Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., regarding future plans for the utilization of Koyagi Plant at Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works, including the transfer of the new shipbuilding area at the Plant on December 18, 2019. This is to announce that the transfer agreement with Oshima Shipbuilding has been signed today for the new shipbuilding area of Koyagi Plant. Beginning in fiscal 2021, the plan is to phase out the transfer and complete in fiscal 2022.
Going forward, MHI Group will continue to maintain its comparative advantage and concentrate its management resources on shipbuilding and marine engineering which will increase added value, in order for the company to achieve sustainable business development.
