Marine Resources Survey Ship : HAKUREI
Marine Resources Survey Ship : HAKUREI
The HAKUREI was built in January 2012 to accelerate the exploration and development of marine resources in the seas around Japan.
The vessel was commissioned by the Japan Oil, Gas, and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) and built at MHI Group’s Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works. She is fitted with two types of Japan’s first large-scale drilling rigs, which can be used selectively depending on the research objectives or the condition of the sea floor and/or geological features.
