Developmental design
The streamlining of the development process is an important issue in ensuring the quality of products. At our
company, we have innovated our developmental process through the use of digital engineering to aim for
efficient, progressive development. We not only carry out structural examination using 3D modeling, but also
strive to speed up the design process through the use of extensive analytical technologies, including FEM
(finite element method) and CFD (computational fluid dynamics). We develop products based on these cutting-edge
digital engineering technologies and thorough testing of actual products.

A new development and testing facility was opened at Biwajima Works to further bolster the
development of industrial air-conditioning and refrigeration products
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems establishes product development system to meet the local needs of
various countries around the world
The opening of a new testing facility in October 2010, along with the existing development and
testing facility have accelerated the development and launching of industrial air-conditioning and refrigeration
products on the global market.
The new testing facility has various laboratories for industrial large-capacity products capable of dealing with
the variety of climatic conditions and environmental regulations in different countries around the world. They
enable the further development of large industrial products, including high-efficiency VRFs, packaged
air-conditioners for factories, industrial freezers and industrial heat pump water heaters.
The global market for air-conditioners is expected to expand further in the future due to increases in the global population, acceleration of urbanization, stricter environmental regulations, and changes in climatic conditions as the result of global warming. It will also become a necessity to develop products that are meticulously adapted to the needs of local conditions in different countries.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems' lineup of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly products are the most competitive products in the world, and demand for them is expected to expand further as they are adapted to local needs. By bolstering the development and testing facility, we will strive to develop technologies and products customized to individual clients, and provide thermal solutions optimized to their diverse needs through synergy between the characteristic extensive fields in the air-conditioning and refrigeration business.
